Since winning the Battle of the Bands competition in December of 2008 the Mercury Quartet have been working with record label Non-classical. This is their debut performance for the label in the popular club
night at the Macbeth in Hoxton.

Mercury Quartet:
The Mercury Quartet was formed at The Royal College of Music to realise a shared passion for Messiaen's Quartet for The End Time. Their first performance of this masterpiece was in the RCM's Recital Hall which involved a collaboration with the artist, Elizabeth Lecourt. This led to a series of concerts both nationally and abroad including Mayfair's Lansdowne Club, St. Martin in the Fields, The Victoria & Albert Museum, The National Gallery and as guest artists at The Dinan Conservatoire de Musique.
They have received artistic direction from the eminent musicians Andrew Ball, the Sacconi Quartet, Richard Hosford, Adrian Levine, Kathron Sturrock, Ashley Wass, Madeleine Mitchell and Julian Jacobson.
The quartet have extensively investigated and performed a wide ranging repertoire (from Rabl and Hindemith to Salter and Ades) for the unusual forces of vl/vc/cl/pf. They are devoted to the interpretation of masterworks of the 20th century, contemporary classical or electronic music and any interdisciplinary artform. Recently they performed a parallel portraits concert of Berg, Takemitsu and Schubert in Holy Trinity Church in Sloane Square as part of the prestigious Chelsea Schubert Festival. The group are Concordia Foundation Artists and future plans include performances of Elliot Carter's 'Triple Duo', Schoenberg's 'Pierrot Lunaire', Ades' 'Catch' and the commision of a new work. The group have also been invited to workshop and perform the compositions of the Doctorate composers at Kings College London.
Most recently the Mercury Quartet took part in and won the 'Battle of the Bands'. This was a competition run by the Non-Classical label in the 'Macbeth' club in East London to find the next big thing in contemporary classical chamber Music. Their prize includes the opportunity to record a disc in 2009 with the label.
